1 million waterfowl migrate to Maryland this winter

Hermann-Financial

Over a million waterfowl made winter migrations through Maryland. Scientists documented record numbers of Canadian geese, over 600,000 making their way to the old line state. Scientists say total numbers this year are well above the five year average of 850,000, and the changes could be due to cold weather and ice pushing birds further south down their migration routes. The Department of Natural Resources has been taking stock of annual winter migrations along its shore and coastline since 1955.
