Bankruptcy hearing for Diocese of Wilmington on hold PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 02 November 2009
The hearing on the Catholic Diocese of Wilmington’s bankruptcy is on hold till Friday.  The Diocese declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy after settlement talks with numerous alleged priest sex abuse victims broke down.  The Diocese has asked for a restraining order for lawsuits against the parishes, saying the Diocese is the real defendant, but victims' lawyers argue that the diocese has not met the criteria for a restraining order.  The judge heard several hours of testimony yesterday.
