UPDATED: Fire Heavily Damages Home North of Bethany Beach

UPDATED – 5:20pm – The investigation is continuing into a blaze that heavily damaged a 4-story home in Bethany Beach this morning.  Firefighters arriving at the scene just after 10:30 found heavy fire showing from the roof.  Firefighters from Millville, Rehoboth Beach, Roxana, Frankford, Dagsboro and Ocean City battled the blaze – as well as strong gusty winds.  One firefighter was taken to Beebe Medical Center with a minor injury to the hand.  Officials say there was no one in the home when the fire broke out.   The State Fire Marshal is investigating to determine the cause and origin of the fire, which is estimated to have caused $1-million in damage.

Fire crews from Sussex County are assisting Bethany Beach with a house fire on Heron Road in the Ocean Village community north of Bethany.  The call came in just after 10:30 this morning and multiple fire companies have been called because of the high winds and adjacent homes.  Video from the scene shows fire through the roof of the three story home – you’ll find the video on the WGMD Facebook page.
