Fire at remote hunting lodge near Milford – arson

The State Fire Marshal is investigating an arson at a hunting lodge in the South Bowers area north of Milford.  The fire at the White Tail Hunting Club occurred sometime between July 4th and Saturday, but was not discovered until after the fact because of the remote location.  Investigators say an ATV was also taken from the property before the fire started.  Damage is estimated at $30,000.  Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.

NEWS RELEASE:  The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating an arson fire of a hunting lodge that occurred between 07/04/10 and 07/10/10 in the South Bowers area of Kent County Delaware.  The hunting lodge was located on Stratham lane in the area of Scott’s Corner Rd north of Milford.  An all terrain vehicle (atv) was also stolen from the property prior to the fire.  Investigators from the Office of the State Fire Marshal were notified by the victim’s of the White Tail Hunting Club advising a fire had occurred at their lodge.  Due to the remoteness of the structure, the fire was not reported when it was actively burning.  Investigators determined the structure was burglarized and a dark green 2005 Artic Cat 4×4 atv was stolen before the building was set on fire.

Fire damages were estimated at $30,000.  There were no injuries.  The Office of the State Fire Marshal is requesting anyone with information pertaining to the arson or theft of the atv to contact the Investigations Division at 302-739-4447 or Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.  You can also text your tip by texting “DCS with your message” to 274637 (crimes)

An additional $1,000 cash reward is also being offered leading to the arrest and conviction of those involved.  This reward is separate and not associated with the Delaware Crime Stoppers and is being offered on behalf of the fire victims.
