Hour 1 – Gulf Screen Guild Theater, The Magnificent Obsession, starring Myrna Loy and Don Ameche, originally broadcast January 19, 1941, 78 years ago. A radio adaptation of the 1935 motion picture and 1929 book by Lloyd C. Douglas. Robert Merrick is resuscitated by a rescue crew after a boating accident. The crew is thus unable to save the life of Dr.Phillips, a physician renowned for his ability to help people, who was having a heart attack at the same time on the other side of the lake. Merrick then decides to devote his life to making up for the doctor’s, and becomes a physician himself.
Hour 2 – The New Adventures of Nero Wolfe starring Sydney Greenstreet, originally broadcast January 19, 1951, The Case of the Calculated Risk. Also Fibber McGee and Molly, originally broadcast January 19, 1954, Fibber tries to fix the Toaster.
Hour 3 – Hallmark Playhouse, originally broadcast January 19, 1950. Ronald Coleman stars in an adaptation of Around The World in 80 Days, about the long journey with the punctual Mr Fogg. Also Part 4 of the 5 part Yours Truly Johnny Dollar story, The The Ricardo Amerigo Matter, originally broadcast January 19, 1956.
