Love Thy Neighbor
February 28th, 2007 by John MixonRumors. He said she said…
Question: Is what you are telling me right now going to be edifying to my soul? Am I a part of the problem or solution of which you speak? Are you asking for my advice which you plan to completely ignore? Are you talking about my neighbor or the guy down the street? Did someone ask you to keep this information to yourself? Will telling me this damage someone’s reputation even though you did not hear it straight from the original persons mouth? Would you stand up in court and swear this is the truth if going to jail would be your result if it wasn’t?
Then shuddup yer face and go do something positive for the community!
Sorry, just had to get that off my chest.

Can we have to forum back?

It’s amazing to me, John, how some of the most violent weapons in the world are…words. We can make someone’s day with the right ones, we can totally ruin (and in some cases, sadly, end) someone’s life with the wrong ones. I really think that words have hurt more people than have guns.
Maybe instead of gun control, the liberals ought to look more into word control.

Had nothing to do with a quota. I have been the victim of much gossip lately, partly because of my time on WGMD, partly because I am a very visible member of the community. Some folks have taken the words of a few immature individuals as though it were gospel truth and quickly began the process of Johnny Appleseeding it all over town.
Another fine individual, perhaps concerned that I was considering a political position decided to take these rumors to a local newspaper. Fortunately, the newspaper was interested in fact and not rumor. But in general, as Pat said, words can be more dangerous and harmful than guns, partly becaue not everyone has guns, partly because people are so irresponsible.
I know I can be a lightening rod for my opinions and sense of humor but I wish people would stick to the truth even though the rumors are so much tastier.

Kinda makes me feel bad that I don’t know you well enough to start a plausible rumor about you

Well John I have enjoyed your time on WGMD.As a resident of the fair town of Milton,I have particularly liked your views on current affairs.A very interesting town with a diverse population ,with a LOTS of opinions.
Hey, any chance you replace Jared? You are so much more polished and professional sounding on the radio. Your slant on LOCAL issues interests me so much more than Jared’s daily alliment or life crisis. Maybe drop Rush and give you the early afternoon slot?Curious as usual.

It was a nice departure from my routine but I am glad to be done for now. I much prefer the odd one-off rather than 2+ weeks straight!
Thank you for your kind words, but I’ll just fade into the Friday shows as Jared’s second fiddle with much joy!
commonsense - just make sumthin’ up, that’s what everyone else does.
Hey, here’s some good stuff, I used to be a card-totin’ liberal and my real honest-to-goodness name is John Kennedy Mixon. I was pro-dead-babies, all for gun control, would have voted Carter/Mondale if I was old enough!
There ya go, some real juicy TRUTH you can spread about me, at least I have answers for that time in my life!

“John, I served with Jack Kennedy,” “I knew Jack Kennedy. Jack Kennedy was a friend of mine. John, you are no Jack Kennedy.”
Sorry, John, I couldn’t resist. TIC

Drugs?

Isn’t John Mixon and Randy Nelson the same person? I’m really confused now.
You use to be a liberal? Is there medication for that- you seem cured- Great !

I get your drift though, John. I can’t listen to you on WGMD for obvious reasons (WGMD doesn’t come in too well in Summit County, Ohio), but look forward to potentially meeting you when my wife and I return in the Spring of 2008. I always go to the Browseabout remote when in town…

After reading that, I just had to say, AMEN! Great sermon.
You can’t take a political position. I think you have to much conviction and integrity.
You should post more often.

I agree, John should post more often…
