Another Reason to Buy American

This is Zheng Xiaoyu, the guy the Chinese executed today, he’s been out of office since 2005.
Zheng, 63, was convicted of taking bribes and dereliction of duty, according to the first instance hearing of the Beijing Municipal No. 1 Intermediate People’s Court.
He received the death penalty on the graft charge and 7 years in imprisonment for the charge of dereliction of duty. All Zheng’s personal property was confiscated and he was deprived of his political rights for life.
The death sentence was appropriate, according to the court, given the “huge bribes involved and the great damage inflicted on the country and the public by Zheng’s dereliction of duty”.
The bribes taken by Zheng, including cash and gifts, were worth more than 6.49 million yuan (about 850,000 U.S. dollars), according to the court. The bribes were given either directly or through his wife and son.
And while his reign has been blamed for the deaths of 10 Chinese people from bad pharmaceuticals, he hasn’t been at the helm since “2005″ when he retired, so it’s not like he’s responsible for any of the death products China has been pumping out like a garden sprinkler lately.
Zheng retired in 2005. He first came under investigation by the Communist Party of China’s Central Commission for Discipline Inspection in December 2006 and was expelled from the Party in March 2007.
Today’s Washington Post fails to mention that part, and they do a good job of making the reader think that this is the guy who has been trying to kill us with lead paint and tainted products:
China on Tuesday executed the former head of its food and drug watchdog who had become a symbol of the country’s wide-ranging problems on product safety.
Zheng Xiaoyu just ain’t the guy. And the guy was EXECUTED TODAY once again showing the Chinese have no concept of human rights or how to satisfy the concerns of the consumer who doesn’t live in some Hellhole country.

Buy American so we don’t have to deal with insane countries that stand for everything the United States of America should stand against
So whatever you do, don’t think that offing Zheng Xiaoyu ends the problem of Chinese products that could make you sick or kill you. The people who let that slide are still out there, until the senseless, inhumane Chinese government decides to execute them, too.
