An Ocean City, Maryland woman, Christy Freeman, 37, was held on 3 charges including “1st degree Murder” for allegedly killing her unborn child this week. Freeman had been admitted to Peninsula Regional Medical Center where staff discovered she had been pregnant.  Police later found a “small infant wrapped in a blanket” in her home.  A search turned up more fetuses.

The FBI is excavating the grounds around the house where Christy Freeman lived.

You can LISTEN to Officer Barry Neeb, OCPD, talk about the case HERE and HERE.

Joel Todd, Worcester County State’s Attorney explains his case HERE.

The entire OCPD press conference is available to LISTEN to HERE.

The “viable fetus statute” that Joel Todd hopes to prosecute Freeman under is Maryland’s version of “Laci’s and Connor’s Law” named after Laci Peterson, whose husband, Scott Peterson, was convicted of murdering her and their unborn child, Connor.  Under Maryland law it’s illegal to abort a fetus once it’s viable unless the life of the mother is in danger or if there is an abnormality with the fetus.  Todd will have to prove that Freeman’s baby was intentionally aborted.

There was no word on the age, condition, or paternity of the other fetuses found in the home wrapped in plastic. The State of Maryland and specifically the Ocean City area, do, in fact, have women’s clinics that offer family planning.

UPDATE:  From WGMD News:

The officers who were searching the home of 37 year old Christy Freeman on Sunset Drive in Ocean City for additional remains are now done excavating as Barry Neeb of the Ocean City Police Department tells WGMD..

WGMD has also learned that they also found the remains of two cats and one dog, and police say the pets belong to Christy Freeman. Freeman is being charged with first and second-degree murder and manslaughter. A preliminary hearing is set for August 27th. Domestic violence experts will examine bruises on Freeman’s body that are accidental, self-inflicted, or caused by someone else.

WGMD News will provide updates as they come in…

UPDATE:  From WGMD News:

A new twist in the case of the Ocean City woman charged with the murder of at least one of four fetuses found late last week… WGMD has learned that four taxi cabs were vandalized overnight in West Ocean City, and were likely smashed someone who was outraged by the reports that the owner of the taxis killed her fetus. 37 year old Christy Freeman is being held on murder charges after police discovered the fetuses inside her home and one inside of her motor home. A preliminary hearing is set for August 27th. As soon as we hear of a confirmation that the other three fetuses are definitely hers, we will pass that along.

Up until the point where maryland/federal law disallows abortion she should be allowed to do whatever she wants with “it.” let’s spotlight just how little the law values life before that threshold. if she wants to inject “it” with mercury, to kill “it” she should be allowed. anything she wants really, even force premature labor and expulsion of the parasite. let’s change the laws to really place a value on life, until then, i cant see how she could be charged with anything. (presuming she killed the kids before the law would stop her from having a doctor performed abortion)

Practicng medicine without a license. That’s all - no different than removing your own tonsils or pulling your friend’s bad tooth out. This is done thousands a times a day from ‘legit’ doctors at ‘legit’ clinics. Why the outrage when a person wants to do it herself? We are a nation of do it yourselfer’s anyway. The woman probally didn’t have health insurance anyway.

There will be some interesting “Legal” arguments in this case. The initial charging documents may go from murder all the way down to disposing of a corpse!

Operation of an abortin clinic with out a license.
