What is THE BIG SURPRISE?

ABC News is reporting that Al Qaeda has posted a propaganda web video online that asks the question “What is the Big Surprise” in Arabic alongside doctored photos of George Bush amidst a burning White House.

We often forget, as we go along with our daily lives here on Delmarva, combing the details of the Ocean City Baby story… or the potential collapse of the Indian River Bridge, or that we’ll be paying $0.60 more for tobacco, that there are real threats to our way of life. Threats that, although we are ignoring them, they aren’t ignoring us. Al Qaeda tells it’s online community to “Wait for THE BIG SURPRISE.” Who knows if these are just scare tactics, or whether they really have something planned for our future. Reports come out almost daily that they are and have been planning something. Some threats have been thwarted, but who knows what evil lies in men’s hearts.

I don’t know if sharing the video is good or bad. If you should just go on with your life and ignore it or allow your voice to be heard… Or if we should “wait for THE BIG SURPRISE.”

Threats were made against us prior to 911 while our law enforcements agencies were posturing and dismissing these same threats as insignificant terrorist hype. Have we learned anything from that ‘little incident’? I doubt it, …except now the hype is how well our agencies are working together. I don’t know about anyone else, but this puppy doesn’t believe it for an instant.

“… Or if we should “wait for THE BIG SURPRISE.”” ==> Maria Evans

You should be campaigning for Barack Obama, based on his August 1st speech, threatening to send American forces into Pakistan after al-Qaeda and Osama bin Laden if President Musharraf refuses to send his forces in first.

Cheney/Bush diverted focus to Iraq, so the al-Qaeda threat on us has grown, while homeland security has also been underfunded, so we are less safe than ever.

We should not be fooled by five years attack free, since we know already that al-Qaeda is patient, calculating, and very clever.

    What would you suggest, Jared?

“Allow your voice to be heard”….whose or which voices should be heard? The ones advocating making glass parking lots out of Iraq, Iran, North Korea, China, Russia? Or the ones recommending securing our own nation, lives, business by getting the hell out of everyone else’s?

“Go on with your life”…of course! Why not, for what’s the alternative…sitting huddled in a corner, thumb in mouth, waiting for something that may…or may not…end our lives as we know them? They hype, as poster RonR tells us, has been around for six years and, to some extent, already changed our lives as we knew them. Turn on a radio, read a paper or periodical, surf the net…if we all based our lives on the threats we found there we and this country would come to a standstill, frozen in fear. And yet…out of the blue, with no forewarning, nature herself destroys a city and the lives of multiple thousands by hurricane; tornadoes rip apart towns and lives, earthquakes topple homes and bridges while wild fires destroy forests and threaten communities: bridges collapse for, as yet, unknown reason. These are the major events while the list of tiny ones could go on forever…things like a truck crash caused by one driver having a possible heart attack, a bicyclist repairing his chain struck and killed by a car, a pedestrian being run over, an elderly man trapped and dies in the 16″ space under an elevator, a child falls asleep and never wakes up or an artery blows up and every faculty a person has is gone. The very fact of being born and living a life is full of potential “BIG SURPRISES”…if you sit and “wait for” one you aren’t living the life given. Life is tenuous, at best…understand and accept that we never know what tomorrow or the next minute might bring…be it through nature, accident or Al Qaeda if you like…keep living and making the most of what you have NOW.

‘Living’ life in fear is an exercise in futility. Making voices heard no different…as some have already seen. It’s 80º out, bright blue skies, it’s Friday…the end of the work week for most…and, for today, if we are fortunate, all of our loved ones are safe and well. I’m choosing life and living it well.

The big surprise is if one of those Russian chicks working at Wendy’s drive through actually gets your order right.
