I think everybody should watch this its just 4 minutes long, but it says alot about the meaning and reminds us of what we are all forgetting when it comes to our ONE NATION UNDER GOD I don’t think it is very fare that we allow people from other countries into out homes and push there beliefs on us and want us to stop believing ours and hide our GOD from them, we need to all think of our kids and remember the innocents of yesterday, that pretty much is gone today..Through television and the movies and the media we are destroying out country, and our kids..

What the hell do the kids need a “winter break” for? They get their “break” in the summer. Since I was a child some 40 years ago it has always been “Merry Christmas” and I went to catholic school my whole life, but my husband went to public school, which also celebrated Christmas. Nothing like keeping Christ in christmas since he is the reason for the season.
Some conservative decided it was politically incorrect to say Merry Christmas given the diversity of our country, however, we dont stop saying Happy Kwaanza, or Feliz Navidad, or Buon Natale, which loosely translated all mean Merry Christmas. When does that become politically incorrect? Or is it just because “christ” is in the word christmas? Again, the reason for the season. Hmmmm……

It’s not just the diversity of our country, Potnetgal…it’s the diversity of celebrations around the globe at this time of year. Christians “came late to the party”, (so to speak), since other beliefs celebrated anywhere from November through early January and maybe there wouldn’t…shouldn’t…be a problem if Christianity didn’t claim December holidays as ours, unique to us. I’m all for Merry Christmas attendant of the nativity, trees, decorations etc. but I’d also be as happy to see the festive trappings and customes of Hanukkah, Diwali, Winter Solstice, Ramadan, Three Kings Day/Epiphany, Kwanzaa, Bhodi Day and others. Is this part of the problem invoking political correctness…that we don’t know (or care) enough about the traditions of non-Christians or even those Christians who celebrate other than 25 December because we don’t want them “infringing on Christian ‘rights’..”? Perhaps if we took joy in the celebrations of others this question wouldn’t be an annual event.

Weekend! Sure has been a long time but I’ve read your comments when you post them…always interested in your perspective. I do remember Angelina just being an infant last Christmas and the joy you anticipated having this extra special gift. Glad to hear she is doing so well and keeping all of you on your toes while she “excercises” hers…LOL. It only gets better…hahahaha! Hey, as much joy as you had last year, this year even better since I’m sure the tree, lights etc. fascinate her. Tip…just give her the boxes under the tree…babies and pets love ‘em more than anything (and save you some money!) How’re the cigars going…still enjoying them despite Ms. Minner?
Good hearing from you, Bernie…wishing you all a very merry Christmas and healthy, happy New Year! Likewise to all posters.

Politically Correct Christmas Card
Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, our best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress, non-addictive, gender neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasions and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all.
In addition, please also accept our best wishes for a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2008, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make this country great (not to imply that this country is necessarily greater than any other country or area of choice), and without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual orientation of the wishers.
This wish is limited to the customary and usual good tidings for a period of one year, or until the issuance of a subsequent holiday greeting, whichever comes first. “Holiday” is not intended to, nor shall it be considered, limited to the usual Judeo-Christian celebrations or observances, or to such activities of any organized or ad hoc religious community, group, individual or belief (or lack thereof).

I don’t think I’ve ever posted although I read daily but I did want to post and say Nancy has said exactly what lots of people feel. My nonChristian family celebrates a number of holidays in December. We don’t celebrate Christmas as a religious holiday but we do exchange presents and have a tree. We also celebrate numerous birthdays and Hanukkah.
But my family is made to feel that we have to hide not only our secular celebration of December 25th but also our celebration of Hanukkah. I’ve lived in Delaware since the late 70s and I think it’s gotten worse in that regard.
I understand that Christians, especially in Sussex County Delaware, are proud of their religion however the need to force it down people’s throats in total disregard to anyone else’s feelings is truly becoming something disgusting. Even the local advertisments that such and such is a “christian business” etc. So what? Is that supposed to mean they’re a better business than someone else who choses not to advertise their religious viewpoints?
Religion is something that if one truly believes whatever he is professing to believe one doesn’t need to shove down anyone else’s throat. A my way or the highway attitude is offensive to all.
