Sad news, I’m going to miss his posts.

Such sad news this morning, Dan…but thank you for letting us know. My heartfelt thoughts and condolences go to his wife and little girl. I’ve been acquainted with Scott since the very old forum, didn’t know him as well as I would have enjoyed but privileged to know him as well as I did. First time I met him in person was one July evening, almost ten years ago, at Roadhouse Steakhouse…Scott, Al, Chas, Dan, myself had arranged to meet (from the forum) in a face-to-face dinner. I only saw him once after that…over in Seaford when Phelps group planned a demo at the funeral of one of our young servicemen. Scott was a leading member and organizer of the motorcycle “line of defence” for and support to the family of the young man. A young man, himself, Scott was a straight-shooting, upright with a unique sense of humour….a good guy. I remember when he and his wife were blessed with the arrival of their little girl and how very proud and happy he was to be a Dad.

I am so very, very saddened by the news of his death and to have missed paying my respects to his family.

  3. Pat Patterson Says:

Please pass on my respects from here in Ohio, if anyone is going to the memorial. I also enjoyed reading his posts, both here and on the old board.

  4. Perry Says:

I too, Nancy. I can hardly believe this. Although I never met Scott personally, I too had many discussions on issues with him on the old forum. He impressed me as a very passionate person, not only about his wife and daughter, but about his community and state. He truly had the courage to act on his convictions. He shared his passion for motorcycling and for computer technology. His response to the Phelps demonstration stands out, but also his advice on computer issues to anyone in trouble was always forthcoming. To the extent of knowing anyone on line and in the news, I have a tremendous amount of admiration for this man. My heart goes out to his wife, daughter and family. How sad this is!!!

  5. Jody Hudson Says:

The Funeral was very well attended by hundreds of people! The service was long and moving! My eyes were running almost the entire time. Scott was a good person in so many ways! My love to his wife Tara and his daughter Laney.

Condolences are certainly heartfelt, Scott was one of the good ones for sure. He was maybe a little snark at times with a comment here or there, but it was always in fun even if the target missed the joke, he’d go out of his way to help you if you needed it. And Nancy, I remember that dinner when we all got together, maybe a dozen of us or better, and before the night was over Scott had posted all of our pics on the old forum, from around the table, with all of our heads substituted as nuts !

    God Speed Carnifex …

  7. Nancy Cleveland Says:

Matthew, I apologize for missing your name in the recollection…which I realised the minute I sent off the comment. I well remember that pic, too…in fact I was laughing at the thought, yesterday. Sorry, Matthew…maybe that’s why I forgot other names. All I could “see” were peanut heads! :) When Scott wrote, later, that he was going to post pics of the dinner on the forum it was a bit disconcerting for, at the time, I was a tad concerned about my “privacy” and remaining “incognito” but when I saw the pic, it was hysterical.

Not surprised hundreds attended the service, yesterday, Jody. Before I had to leave for work, yesterday morning, I read the Patriot Guard forum and could see the love and support which would enfold Scott’s family. He will surely be missed.

Very sad.So young.I too enjoyed “Carni’s” post on the old forum. My deepest condolences go out to his family and friends.

Initially found out driving past Roxana Fire Dept several times which had posted Scott’s name, in memoriam, on their sign. I thought it was not the same Scott and extreme coicidence, from what I understood he had lived in Bridgeville area with no connection to Roxana and it certainly must be another Quillen. (Later finding out his honorary membership with the F.D.)

2 hour online search sent me to the Patriotguard forum, eBay, and his two forums, and the pieces connected that it was indeed Carnifex as my mood fell solemn. It shook me up quite a bit, since I am similar age and computer background to Scott and for several years those 5-6 of us regulars here on the Forum were a small online family. We all knew his intelligent wit, local issue provoking commentary and smart debate which made him a class act. Any biting sarcastic commentary, was just an entertaining reflection of the competitive spirit as shown from his computer game background.

PartriotGuard.org had the first online notification they are are a tremendous organization.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family, wife and daughter. Life can so so fragile and taken for granted as I have lost 4 close dear friends in about 2 years.

I think Scott would have appreciated someones effort to alert his friends at WGMD and I did so as I was able.

Good to see the familiar faces again, Nancy, Perry and others. I have been reading the blog from time to time.

  10. Nancy Cleveland Says:

J.D…(and I’m wondering if you are the long-lost J.D. of Fenwick??)…thank you so much for thinking to let us know. Guess from now on I will read the sports…and other blogs…even if they generally don’t pique an interest. Had I done so, I would have been able to pay last respects to a fine family.

  11. Realist Says:

I’m saddened and stunned. I knew Scott on a professional level, and communicated with him on several occasions, but had no idea he was Carnifex. He was very dedicated, and absolutely brilliant at his work. I enjoyed reading his messages on the old forum. He will be missed.
