Cape Henlopen School Board President, Dr. Gary Wray, has resigned his leadership position effective immediately. He will retain his school board seat. Vice President Stell Parker Selby has stepped up to the position of President.
“It’s important that we begin the new year with a fresh look and all of us pull together to move the District forward…” - Dr. Gary Wray AUDIO OF THE FULL RESIGNATION
The Cape Henlopen School Board has been under fire in recent years over a number of issues like the construction of a new high school, a budget running in the red, balancing the budget deficit by not filling teaching vacancies thus increasing class size, and administrative salaries and raises.
More to come….

Boy Maria, this is like a bad Soap Opera and the only ones truly at a disadvantage here are our kids, it seems like no one is looking out for their best interests.
They should all resign and begin with a new administration, perhaps placing parents, not politics on the board would behoove everyone involved.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I believe board members aren’t placed, they’re elected by the public. I also believe most of them are parents of current or former Cape students. So far, the only reference I’ve heard about “politics” was from board member Redden who, in my opinion, contributes very little, and merely carries water for the Cape school administrators. From all accounts, Wray was out of line and got what he deserved. Next, they need to downsize the top heavy administration, and hire some real educators.
