And here I outright agree with you, Mr. Bill...a good joke is just that...funny....and 'we' can/do joke about ourselves along with the best of "straights".

Anyway, I like your viewpoint. When any of my friendships began to form it's never occurred to me to ask..."Oh, wait...first I have to know if you are straight or gay...".

I just do not get the "women in comfortable shoes" issue at all. It appears to me that men who refer to that phrase, be it Mr. Williams or Mr. Bill, in my view are making a statement that a woman should wear uncomfortable shoes, just because she can!!! I never did believe it to be a gay or lesbian issue, just somewhat disrespectful. Should we "girls" wear stiletto heels all the time just so we can not be compared with the "comfortable, soft shoes group"??? Perhaps we could straighten this out and make for a better feeling between all of us. Also, the Mickey joke has been around for years and it is very cute indeed!!!!

There is simply no reason in America for government to have any interest in what two consenting adults do in their spare time. As long as it doesn't involve people under the age of 18 we recognize people have free will. A friend from high school and a cousin are both gay. It hasn't altered that they are friends and relatives. On the other hand, a good joke is a god joke. Jay Leno even tells jokes about gay people. Like me he also tells far more jokes about Bill Clinton's sex life and yet you don't hear any straights complaining about the treatmet of heterosexuals. Some things are just funny. The Mickey Mouse divorce joke is one of the best but I can't share it here. It involves Mickey, a lawyer and a failure to communicate. The lawyer thinks Minnie is crazy. A frustrated Mickey explains it has something to do with a cartoon dog. And it isn't Pluto.

Now wait, AE...there are some of us reared up at Mr. Bill for a "few" (??) things but in all fairness I don't believe I've heard him say (or read) anything about lesbians, gays, derogatory or otherwise. In fact, that is one of the things I DO respect about him.

Women in comfortable shoes. It originates with liberal comedian Robin Williams and is a reference to the National Organization for Women. Some of its members may be gay but from what I understand it isn't required. The implication would be yours and not that of Mr. Williams and not that of Mr. Colley.

He started the attack.... I can't help it if the narrow minded 'CAVEMAN' tried to engage in a battle of wits ,whilst being unarmed. I'm sick of his references like 'Henpecked" and "women in comfortable shoes" etc... and obvious snide comment about lesbians.

I have been reading the blogs from this station for awhile now, I can understand if you disagree with the statements the author writes but why do some of you feel the need to attack for no reason.
