10 Reasons Why George W. Bush Is Stupid
March 16th, 2008 by Bill ColleyA title like that for a blog post would get your attention. It’s funny if from the leftist perspective it’s about George W. Bush. Witness the lefty reaction to David Letterman and shows of that ilk. Governor Minner is an abysmal failure as an administrator. I’m reading the verdict from capitol insiders of all political stripes. Now we’ve got people screaming about personal attacks. It’s my guess it’s because it gives the left greater control over the political dialogue and masks the very real anger a majority of the people are experiencing.
One person suggested to me last week that we simply vote the bad guys out of office. Replacing them with more of the same? Dover is nothing more than a debating society and centralized location for the disbursement of lobbyist cash, as is every state capitol in the country.Â
Let me address some other points from this past week about the Freeman Foundation. At no point was it criticized. I spoke of a glaring incomplete in a News Journal story. It didn’t say if plans for a performing arts center would include public money (for Bucky’s Mom that would mean “taxpayer†funded). A complete story would answer the question. The fellows doing the complaining should be informed the show that day was being taped. Your attempt at “propaganda†is nothing but a lie. I’m sure it’s just one more chit you’re collecting for a stop in hell.Â
Speaking of which, a listener handed me a piece of paper Friday and it informs there will be a day of silence at a local school. This really isn’t my issue as my focus is primarily tax relief. The woman’s church, with hundreds of members, is protesting the intrusion into our schools of sexual agendas. It would appear I don’t hate Delaware but much of Delaware dislikes you.
Many of you are mistaken when you maintain I hate this place. I very much like my church and its hundreds of congregants, my friends (some of them shopkeepers at the beach), the people I work with and the many callers to the program. You may notice most callers are quite positive but unlike many of you these people work for a living. They work with their hands and they produce or transport goods and do most of the tax-paying and buying on Delmarva. They would also appear to greatly outnumber the beach liberals raving every time I make a post at this site.Â
Would you like to argue that these people’s views are irrelevant? Are you smarter than these men and women? Did God make you their betters and masters? Excuse me for the assumption that any of you believe in God.Â
As for Nancy’s argument that I don’t like women I can only reply I like them as much as she does but for the most part just one from Maryland. The one with whom I spend much of my free time.Â
Speaking of Maryland, Bucky’s Mom doesn’t object when I speak of events there. I should note that WGMD has a large following in that state as well as in the southern environs of New Jersey. You may also notice that Savage, Ingraham and Limbaugh rarely mention Delaware. Perhaps you need to chastise them? Much like me they would just swat the flies aside.
See you all at 3:00 o’clock.

Tut-tut, Mr. Bill…I don’t know that many…or any…accused you of “hating this place”, mostly only that, for a newcomer, you do tend, frequently, to seem hypercritical. Nancy didn’t accuse you of “hating women”…what I commented upon was your attitude toward women…there is a difference (not just semantics) and I doubt if you will ever find a post from me which uses the word “hate”…other than this one.
As to those of us who sit home with nothing better to do but punch a keyboard, according to your above post…perhaps we are resting upon the few laurels we we’ve earned in our lives. We’ve worked, raised families, worked some more, paid taxes, owned businesses, lost businesses, worked (again) for others, continue to care for our families, and now fortunate enough to be considered ‘retired’. Could be safe to say so it may well be with your caller following considering the time of day they make those calls. I know the many years I worked I wouldn’t have dreamed of stealing time from my employer to listen to a talk show so I might call in to comment…that’s not what I was paid to do. I was there to work, to devote my time and attention to the job(s) at hand and, yes, when I did own businesses, would have cautioned anyone on my staff who made such calls. But hey, we each have our own idea of integrity. So, no…speaking only for myself since you did direct a couple of pointed comments my way…I don’t consider myself “better than” any of your callers but nor do I consider myself “worse” as you seem to. It just remains most curious that, for the past few months two people in particular do seem to get under your skin (or on your last nerve, perhaps) and we…as well as you…know who they are. It’s not because they are both ‘liberal”…I know I’m not and so do you…at least as well as you think you know me from my posts. Look, you author and post your blog here, hoping for comments…whether for or against your opinion, same as on your show presumably. You know what “they” say…”If you can’t take it, don’t dish it…”

Bill can take it and, more importantly, he can take it, mold it, and give it back with relish. Go, Bill. The show moves along at a great pace and the silent majority of listeners know when its time for the Lone Ranger to appear: Frank calls and “pulls back the curtain” and/or Ric calls and reiterates the “facts” as they are in real life.

Mr. Bill, you know nothing about my religious preferences or my political stance. For your information, I do work for a living and have done just that for over 50 years. As far as the Freeman statement, I was never aware of that conversation on the radio. I do know that the gentleman was very much liked especially for his many contributions for charity and for the betterment of the communities. All I am trying to say is this: You never have anything nice to say about anyone. What the heck is the reason you brought up Rush, Michael and Laura? Just why would they mention Delaware? They are syndicated journalists and you are not. You are a talk show host for a small area of a small state. Sometimes you do not make any sense at all. Keep up the good work.

What is quite clear to me is that every weekday I host a 4 hour program and all sorts of folks make assumptions of me. This is how I get a paycheck and put food on the table. The people barking most loudly about my “personal attacks” are more than willing to assualt my character. As for personal attacks on politicians let me remind you that the tarring and feathering of English tax-collectors was a personal attack. It also brought about a startling change in North American governance. Government is currently a failure. The governors are currently failures. Our “representatives” are in need of a bracing broadside or many.
Every topic on the show relates to life in Delaware and the lives of listeners. It would take a very limited intelligence not to make such recognition. Or an alternative is that the host’s views aren’t yours and no matter what you hear there will be huffing and puffing. It does appear from most telephone calls and emails that the views of the man behind the microphone are the views of the majority.

“The fellows doing the complaining should be informed the show that day was being taped.”
Yeah? So? Post the link. If the taped show does not have you stuttering over the one male caller who called in……you did a little bit of editing.
“You may notice most callers are quite positive but unlike many of you these people work for a living.”
Bill, we all work, have worked or work from home or are retired. Your right thats not a personal attack, it’s more of a blanket type attack. A fine way to gain listeners.
“It does appear from most telephone calls and emails that the views of the man behind the microphone are the views of the majority.”
Yes Bill, you are a legend in your own mind. Perhaps a bit of extrapolation on your part for that observation.
“See you all at 3:00 o’clock.”
Many of us wait for that to end.
btw, You need not start a new thread to answer another posters questions. I’m certain we can all find our way back to the original governors thread.
March 17th, 2008 at 5:18 pm
posterone–thanks for a man’s viewpoint. You are correct, this blog had a stupid title that Mr. Bill thought would attract us stupid people to it. Also, I assume that he is under the impression that many of his listeners cannot read because he spends a good part of his 3 hours on air reading newspapers to us.
March 17th, 2008 at 7:59 pm
“The people barking most loudly about my “personal attacks†are more than willing to assualt my character.”
So… it would appear that you can dish it without any expectations of getting it back? Seriously, in the relatively short time you’ve been around, I haven’t seen you demonstrate much in the way of “character”.
“The governors are currently failures. Our “representatives†are in need of a bracing broadside or many.”
Indeed! So give them all a REAL “broadside”. Childish attacks on their physical attributes hardly qualifies. Is that all you have? I hope not, but it would appear that this type of drivel is all you can muster.
“Every topic on the show relates to life in Delaware and the lives of listeners. It would take a very limited intelligence not to make such recognition.”
Agreed. Many of the topics are relevant. By the same token, you’ve proven that virtually anyone with “limited intelligence” can scan the newspapers or online media for topics, but your delivery of said topics is usually rather pathetic.
“It does appear from most telephone calls and emails that the views of the man behind the microphone are the views of the majority.”
I’ve noticed the “man” behind the microphone is somewhat prone to end the conversations of those with dissenting views. The callers don’t have that option to *move the conversation along*. In fact, I would posit that the “majority” wouldn’t care to subject themselves to such invective. That leaves the usual sycophants, who are likely the ones, to which you refer. that may have little more useful to do.

I don’t know about anyone else, here, but I find Bill’s writings somewhat disjointed, that is they go from one thing to another without connections. The sentences don’t flow.
I’m not taking sides with anyone about anything but do find this blog somewhat unprofessional. Stirring up controversy over current issues is one thing, but raising hell for the sake of it (reference the blog title) is quite another. It’s almost as though the writer is out to offend people.

Hi, John. The latest post is a reply to some comments made by readers following an earlier post. The title is homage to their hypocrisy. The self-appointed intelligentsia doesn’t fathom that I’m not a newscaster. I’m a talk show host paid to express opinions. When these don’t match their world view they lash out in anger. Then they demand answers to all sorts of questions. As if I’m an elected official. I’m not running for public office and I’m not feeding at the public trough. You might think the intelligentsia could put this together but the leftist perspective is devoid of logic. It’s all about getting in touch with feelings and political correctness. I’m not in any search for feelings. And I think it’s high time we put political correctness where it belongs. On the ash heap of history.
March 18th, 2008 at 10:53 am
Nothing to do with “political correctness”. Personally, going PC was one of the worst things we’ve done. Nothing to do with expressing opinions…after all, Mr. Bill, that’s really all ANY of us do without having to be a talk show host. But there is a difference between those two things and being rude or blatantly unkind.
You could do worse than “be in search for feelings” though.
March 18th, 2008 at 10:58 am
Bill: it is not about politics. I am sure most of us are not “leftists”, I certainly am not. I am supporting the rep. candidate wholeheartedly, so therefore I do not go to the left. My opinion is mine to express. When you do not agree with what the bloggers have to say about you, you accuse them of not having jobs, accuse them of being politically associated in areas that they are not, trying the best to blame them for not agreeing with you and/or liking you. If we dare call you on air, then you have remarks to make about our neighborhoods, our looks, our sexual preferences, our political beliefs, etc., mostly after the conversation has ended. To be sure, you have several listeners who call you and tell you what a great job you are doing and how much they just love you Well, that is what “makes the world go round”. Will you ever understand that? Can you ever accept criticism without being so defensive? You surely can dish out the criticism.

In other words, Nancy, PC. Let me tell you that I’ve watched for over six months how nastily his Governor has treated the staff here. It isn’t public but I recently read a magazine story, which says it’s much the same across the state. Most of all I shudder at her cavalier attitude about DPC. No, I’m not sorry about giving her grief. From what I can witness she is a cruel and manipulative politician and believes somehow she rules through fiat. Enough.
And judging by all your comments I’ve done my job.
March 18th, 2008 at 11:57 am
Fair enough commenting on what you have read or know in regards to her political stance, her professional…or unprofessional, treatment of others (staff or otherwise), Bill…I have no quarrel with that whatsoever but “grief” of a personal nature doesn’t pertain, does it? What she looks like…age, dress, weight related have nothing to do with how she runs…or doesn’t run…the State. I’ve noted a few posts pertaining to curiosity in where to find evidence of your looks and I personally don’t believe THAT pertains, either. In fact, while I disagree with many of your opinions I’d be the first to make this same post should similar personal comments be made public, regardless of what they were. No…I’m well aware that you don’t need me to do that and probably prefer I didn’t but it’s what’s fair.
I know to some degree how she has treated the staff there, among them countless occasions when she has been invited to defend a position she’s taken and either ignored it or been very rude in doing so…even to sending someone else to take the heat she has well-deserved. Professionally, I can’t stand the woman and the sooner she is out of office the better…hopefully. (There is always that “better the devil you know…” nipping at the head). But my ‘feelings’ or opinions have nothing to do with, or have any bearing on how she looks, what or how much she may eat or how old she is. Nor do I believe such things ever should. And you see…that is MY opinion which, as you know, I will voice freely.
March 18th, 2008 at 5:58 pm
“The title is homage to their hypocrisy. ” Oh, thats rich.
Talk show host? You have a place to express yourself, everyday.
I have been thinking much about my post’s. And I will say that I’m not that all comfortable with them. I do not know Bill Colley other than on the air. To me thats not much info to base any kind of opinion on anyone. What started this for me was the way he remarked on the Governors physical attributes, and the way he talked over that one caller. Thats it, simple. I’m sorry if it’s not political, left, far left, to the right or in any direction. It was simply about taking a person to task on her job performance by attacking her weight or her overall appearance. Thats it. Yes you are on the radio, and I guess as a talk show host. I wish you well and hope you are happy in your career choice. You should be, your young and ambitious, just give us some info on what she has done in office that you don’t agree with, where has she slipped up. You can come down on her like a hammer if you want to then, just try not to use her weight or appearance for your voiced opinion on your disapproval of her job performance.

“…just give us some info on what she has done in office that you don’t agree with, where has she slipped up. “
Colley I’m dying to answer this one…
