Good Grief
April 16th, 2008 by Maria EvansCelia Cohen, author of one of my favorite books Only In Delaware, covered a banquet in honor of Bridgeville Senator Thurman Adams.
And no, he wasn’t being honored for his habit of taking legislation he doesn’t like and deep sixing it in his desk drawer where it will never see the light of day again. He was honored by “500″ people at the Dover Downs for managing to remain in the State Senate for 35 long years.
Unfortunately for Delaware, we’re not talking about dog years.
But as an advocate of term limits, the fact that Adams has remained in office for so long isn’t what caught my eye and made it twitch like a PSC official at a Senate hearing.
Celia wrote this at her site Delaware Grapevine:
There was also the sight of Joe Farley Sr., the lobbyist for Delmarva Power, as the master of ceremonies, and what does that say about the fate in the Senate of Bluewater Wind?Â
Yes, Delmarva Power’s lobbyist was the master of ceremonies at Senator Adams’ lil celebration.
You just can’t make this stuff up if you tried.

Thank God for Thurman Adams…..most of the garbage initiated in Legislative Hall belongs ‘buried in a desk drawer.’

I say pull the bills out of the desk, have the Senate vote on them and then publish how they voted, the bills on the State of Delaware website show how members of the House voted, but not the Senate. I guess we don’t have a right to know.
Then stick the lobbyists in the desk drawer.

All lobbyists?

Lobbyists? Can we change the name from “Lobbyists” to “Political Prostitutes in Dover”?
