I agree this is a very difficult decision to make and as a parent I would not want to be in their shoes. My only question is has any one ask Lauren if she wishes to have the tube removed.!!!!!! If she is able to respond to voices, blink, and make verbal sounds she should be able to answer that question by her sounds or by blinking. I highly suggest that it be video taped and possably done in front of a judge!! or better yet have the judge ask her. I know this sounds silly but I have seen many things in my time as a health care worker. GOD WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would differ, Roy...even not knowing the man or the family I'd wager he isn't afraid to let go. He doesn't want to, cannot envisage doing so and for obvious reasons. Hope...and, perhaps his religious or spiritual beliefs. We all can eventually give up hope when a cause seems hope-less but when it comes to one's children? I've never met anyone yet, who could do so. And who's to say it's hopeless or pointless. No, parents should not outlive their children...for me it seems an obscenity...but it happens. And when there is anything...anything...that creates even just a glimmer of hope we hang on to it. As I read it previously, it would seem that Lauren's family is 'apart' and this may, sadly, have exacerbated the situation. It would be a good thing to concentrate on the positive...the family coming more together because of Lauren's circumstance...than to be rendered further apart by differences in how to proceed

Here's obvious answer that nobody likes: Randy Richardson's Lauren father is afraid to let go. The motto that holds true: Children shouldn't outlived their parents. How can Christine O'Donnell help out in this? If Randy is willing go for it then good for him. If prognosis graved then try keeping Lauren will tear the whole Richardson family apart.

I am sure O'Donnell is looking forward to serving her constituents in 2009......in her new job at Fox News.

This is a very tough, extremely painful situation. I feel for Lauren, her child, her parents and, as is asked here, whom is 'more right' and who among us ever wants to have to make the decision. But for God's sake, don't leave it up to the courts.
