Malik Obama confirms his half-brother Barack grew up a Muslim

June 20th, 2008 by Dan Gaffney

That is supposed to be a 24 year old Barack Obama on the left of the photo in the mans hand.

Was Obama ever a Muslim?  His campaign claims he “never was” a muslim; his half brother might not have received that press release as reported in IsraelInsider:

In a remarkable denial issued last November that still stands on the official campaign website, Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs issued a statement explaining that “Senator Obama has never been a Muslim, was not raised as a Muslim, and is a committed Christian.”

Apparently Malik Obama, himself a Muslim, had not read the press release.

Melanie Phillips is the most recent commentator to draw attention to the massive body of evidence that leaves no doubt that Barak Hussein Obama was born a Muslim (Islam is patrilineal) and raised a Muslim (so registered in school, acknowledging attending Islamic classes, reported accompanying his step-father to the mosque, and able to recite the Koran in the original Arabic).

As the Jerusalem Post reports, “Barack Obama’s half brother Malik said Thursday that if elected his brother will be a good president for the Jewish people, despite his Muslim background. In an interview with Army Radio he expressed a special salutation from the Obamas of Kenya.”

Having a background as a Muslim would not be a problem, but lying about it and engaging in elaborate cover up today would be a problem.  This would not be “change we can believe in”.

I hope his campaign can provide more details to clear up the confusion.

The campaign has provided plenty of detail on this and other smears floating around out there:

Tommy, we’re all very aware of the Obama website, but upon examination the Obama campaign has not really disputed the half-brother or the other past Muslim stuff.

  3. boo Says:

It sounds like you’re looking for reasons not to vote for him.

  4. Perry Says:

    You’ve got that right, boo.

Obama says he is not a Muslim, his half brother allegedly says he is. Whom do we believe?

Dan professes to be a Christian. Do we believe him?

Even if Obama were a Muslim, so what? Only bigots really care!!!

  5. Frank Says:

Perry read what others say and respond, Dan said the problem is not if he is or isn’t a Mohamadman , it is has he lied about it. Many people convert from one faith to another over a life time , especialy from one they were brought up in as a child by their paerents, no big deal except to, as you say bigots.
The question about his character and honesty about this is most definately an issue.

As for seeking a reason to not vote for him we need not look at his race or his faith, we need only look toward the policies he himself has stated that he would implement.

It seems to me that the people who declare their support of the man are to quick to lable others racist or bigots to distract from the flawed character of the man, and the fact that his policies would lead to the ruin of this nations economy and security.

And if we are going to talk about racism and bigots , then we must talk about removing two muslim women from behind the candidate at one of his speeches. This is not the possibility of , or the illusion of racism, it is a clear case of racism.

  6. Realist Says:

I really don’t care if he’s a Muslim. However, I do think it’s relevant if he’s proven to be a liar. So far, his two defining moments are that he unapologetically broke his promise on campaign financing, and that he pimped out the presidential seal. Anyway, since when did character become irrelevant?

  7. Devastation Says:

What better reason not to vote for Senator Obama than this…He’s a typical Libocrite. The only thing different between Sen. Obama and Sen. Clinton are gender and skin color. A vote for Sen. Obama is a vote for the destruction of America. Plain and simple.

Perry, do muslims care if you are an ‘infidel’?-

It’s a concern of mine. As I am not voting for McCain, Obama being a Muslim does draw concern to me. Obama’s past is a blur to the American people.

After reading this article, true or not, it can spark great concern. He has yet to refute the evidence against.

With his Muslim connections, which from this article are scary, you don’t know who he could sell our country out to. We don’t need another Clinton selling our military secrets or weapons to the wrong people. Right now our military is vastly declining in superiority and we need a president that will build it bigger and stronger. This goes for any man running for president Muslin or not Muslim. Any man with questionable ties cause for great concerns in my opinion.

  10. John B. Says:

I doubt that any candidate has been totally truthful to the nation. I hope this joke is acceptable, to lighten things up, here:

While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75 year old Texas rancher, whose hand was caught in a gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got around to Obama and his bid to be our President.

The old rancher said, “Well, ya know, Obama is a ‘post turtle’.”

Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a ‘post turtle’ was.

The old rancher said, “When you’re driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that’s a ‘post turtle’.”

The old rancher saw a puzzled look on the doctor’s face, so he continued to explain. “You know he didn’t get up there by himself, he doesn’t belong up there, he doesn’t know what to do while he is up there, and you just wonder what kind of a dumb ass put him up there.”

  11. Bob5 Says:

This is pathetic. If anyone bothered to lift a finger, you’d find that the source for this post was not only highly questionable to begin with, the article had to be corrected:

“This article updates and corrects the one previously published on June 13, 2008 with newly uncovered evidence of the audio recording at the center of the controversy.
Apparently the Jerusalem’s Post’s sloppy paraphrase of a radio interview with Barack Obama’s half-brother created the false impression that he had explicitly confirmed the “Muslim background” of the likely Democratic Presidential nominee. The newly uncovered recording presents more ambiguous evidence.”

Of course, the article goes on and tries to salvage its claims by repeating other peoples claims (oh, so reporter Joe Blow has done extensive research and has proved beyond question Obama is a Muslim, so it MUST be true), but by making such a huge, stupid mistake the first time around, you have to question the reliability of this article.

Although Dan takes the high road and says a person’s religion doesn’t matter, it is obvious from these posts that it matters a LOT to some people. Yet anyone who wasn’t blinded by their right-wing politics would be dubious of this post to begin with: who is this guy? Is he really Obama’s brother? Why haven’t we heard about him before? Who interviewed him, and when and where? This story doesn’t even get close to the threshold for being a real news story.

You have to love comments like Fabio’s “this article, true or not, it can spark great concern.” So, he admits that the truth doesn’t matter to him!?! Even if a rumor is a complete lie, he’ll choose to let it influence his opinion. It is people like that who give us conservatives such a bad reputation.

The real credibility question is the credibility of WGMD for posting this. It is things like this that make WGMD such a joke. Stick to local news that you can actually report and don’t get in over your head by repeating internet rumors. Seriously, you should be embarrassed that you fall for stuff like this. Just because you post this as a blog, your reputation is still on the line.

  12. Nancy Cleveland Says:

    Sanity and decency prevail…kudos, Bob5!

  13. Fabio Says:

Bob5 our Associated Press can’t even give true news anymore. This whole Nation isn’t credible. It’s all a bunch of lies and it’s the dumb idiots in this country, which are a good 70%+, that are suckered in by it. You can’t take a blogger totally credible, therefore you must do your own research. You learn that in college, even high school, come on! It just raises the eyebrows for deeper things to be looked in to. I never ever believe the news and will always look into it deeper to find the REAL truth. You would never write a research paper with one source. So far, I have found nothing to back that blogger up on Obama, but it does raise eyebrows for something more about a man we know little about. That’s why you participate in an open forum or blog where people add to your info found. Maybe this is why the Republican party is becoming dust in the wind because they can’t work together to help one another and help this great Nation. The poor poor younger generations.

  14. chickbradford Says:

Dan is just passing on the lies of False Noise!

  15. chickbradford Says:

Shouldn’t Muslims be forced to wear badges so we know they are Muslims? Maybe we could put them all in special camps.

  16. deboy15 Says:

Well, I don’t know much about politics, but I do know a thing or two about faith. When a man changes or converts from one religion to another, it is not to say that they will not still conform to the things he did before. I am a Christian, i was raised as a christian and nothing else. Why is everyone dogging the man because he was a Muslim. Yes, we know 911 was caused by Muslims and their radical beliefs that God told them to do it. But i am telling you that god told them to do it. Notice that i used the god of the christian faith with a capital “G”, and the muslim god with a lowercase “G”, i did that because we all have our own gods, i have God of the Christian faith, and Obama has god of the muslim faith, it’s just that God is the supreme ruler over every other god there can ever be. So, my point is, stop being bigots because everyone has gods that other people don’t approve of. Your god could be money, it could be cars, it could be sex. But the God i serve is a mighty God and he can overcome any god that tries to come before him. Keep that in mind the next time you tackle someone’s religion.

  17. deboy15 Says:

chickbradford, funny, but no. We dont want a muslim holocaust on her hands. But i can see the relation!

  18. chickbradford Says:

deboy15….Christians, Muslims, and Jews all worship the same God. Please check out the history of these three religions. I do see your point in a way….the same God that told Bush to invade Iraq told me it was a stupid idea.

  19. Devastation Says:

No Chick. Christians and Jews worship the same god (God), while Muslims worship a false god who calls for the slaughter of non-believers (infidels). See the difference?

  20. chickbradford Says:

No Devastation, I don’t. Did you ever wonder why Jews and Muslims and even some Christian sects don’t eat pork or shellfish? We all believe in the God of Moses.

  21. Roy Toomey Says:

Hey Devastation will you vote for next president due to logic or some idiotic religious intolerance?

  22. Devastation Says:

chick - when the Muslims started bastardizing the Word, and making up their own, they stopped serving God, and started serving a false god.

Roy - First of all, I don’t care if Sen. Obama is a Muslim, Indian Chief, or Druid. He can believe whatever he wants. I also don’t care about his color. These things are NOT qualifiers for the United States Presidency.

The reason I’m not going to vote for Sen. Obama is spelled out WAY earlier in this thread: he’s a Libocrite. He talks smoother, he’s “articulate and clean (Sen Biden),” and he says what the Libocrites want to hear. He has a boatload of new government programs lined up, designed to make more people dependent on government, but how will he PAY for them? that’s right kids…US! The middle-class. The ones that he’s so pushing to “change.” The only “change” that we’ll see is when we get our paychecks, and that’s all that’ll be left. McCain is better, but only slightly.

I’m hoping that a REAL Conservative steps up to the plate, but the Liberal media will dismiss him/her as an intolerant kook. We’ll have to wait and see. But if the choice was either Sen. Obama and Sen. McCain, I’ll have to vote for McCain.

  23. Roy Toomey Says:

Duh Devastation!! Politics is nothing but a liars game. The purpose: politicians has to tell the most lies to get themselves elected. I don’t want planet that you come from Devy. Politicians from both parties can be “smooth talkers”, not “Librocrites” - only. Dev don’t the slithering tongues from smooth talkers blind your judgment. I feel sorry for the poison that a smooth talking politician injects into your senses, Devy.
