Fireworks Arrest

July 4th, 2008 by Dan Gaffney

Delaware lawmakers have deemed local residents too stupid to properly handle sparklers, bottle rockets and firecrackers.  Are those arrested for trying to bring a little bang to holiday,  patriots or pinheads?

Five people have been busted for possession illegal fireworks after State Police and fire officials watched them buy fireworks at Pennsylvania distributors. Then, when the fireworks were brought into Delaware, the five were arrested. All fireworks – even sparklers – are illegal in Delaware. Police say this was just the first of several similar operations planned for the weekend.

Patriots or Pinheads?

    Pinheads!

When you live in a wooded area with no fire hydrants, and everything is dry as a bone, having pinhead neighbors setting off all kinds of fireworks for hours on end is unnerving to say the least. I have found spent bottle rockets in my yard, too. Calling the cops is a waste of time because each year I have called them, it takes three hours to respond. I’ve watched the police cruiser drive slowly down the road then turn around and leave. $25 fines don’t deter anyone.

Amazingly, Pennsylvanians are not allowed to buy the fireworks that are sold to Delawareans. They can buy little more than sparklers. It’s time for PA law-makers to step in and stop this nonsense which affects New Jersey, too.

There’s nothing patriotic about angering the neighbors, blowing your fingers off or setting fire to other people’s property.

Long live the Patriotic Men …

    M. Opaliski would you like to see some “Patroitic Men” lose body parts for mishandling them?
