You're right, Matt, "spread the wealth" was what McCain latched on to.

But think of the context, where we have withstood 8 years of tax policy that has redistributed the wealth to the upper few %, causing a huge yearly deficit which has almost doubled the national debt, burdening our children and grandchildren to pay the interest while attempting to reduce the debt.

I find it compelling that we have a candidate who now wants to spread the wealth to get the economy moving again, providing the middle class a chance. The middle class, Matt -- that's you, Nancy and I, is it not?

PS: Joe the plumber, who earns about $40K per year, would be better off under an Obama tax policy. He either didn't realize it, or he was a McCain plant in an Obama rally.

It most certainly was because of the answer that Obama gave, and the fact that McCain was able to exploit the comment doesn't make it any different.

The 'issue' was the answer, not the question or the person asking it ...

Matt, are you sure the media 'dug up the dirt' on Joe because of what Obama said? Seems to me the minor conversation between Obama and Joe was made mention of but not until McCain invoked his 'friend' Joe The Plumber some twenty-plus times during the last debate did they really go after the poor guy.

I read or hear things like this and cannot help but think, " These people must have watched WAY too much Star Trek The Next Generation when they were growing up."
They want a Star Trek-style one world government.

Good post and good show today Bill. To add just a little to what I said earlier on the air, again sure, Joe the Plumber's story, his life story mind you has taken off because of bias but there are a couple of things to note for those reading or listening that might be swayed by those in the poppycock alphabet news media complex that have given up on trying to hide that they're acting as surrogates for the Obama campaign.

On being a plant, or being a McCain supporter at an Obama event as some have suggested, he was in his own front yard playing ball with his son when the Obama campaign came through the neighborhood with cameras in tow. Maybe they're (the Republicans, Rove, et al) just that good at planting plants but the suggestion is a stretch at best. The truth isn't so important though, as long as the acusation is made.

On being licensed, or a lack thereof, so freaking what. He never said that he was a licensed plumber that owned a business, he said he was looking into going into business, as in possibly, a business that could potentially have gross profits of $250K to $285K or there about. There's no license required to want to succeed, yet.

On oweing taxes, again so what, lots of folks owe taxes. I owe taxes. Ever heard of Congressman Charlie Wrangle, Chair of the House Ways and Means Committee that was cheating on his taxes this year ? He writes the tax code. Hello ? That's news, nah, not important enough I know but if the poppycocks happen to read this and want to look at Wrangle I'll give away tip, no charge.

Lastly, it's interesting that it took the media less than 24 to 48 hours to dig up all the dirt on this guy because of something that Obama said in response to a question he posed. As if discrediting the guy makes what Obama said any better, not really but, it sure changes the subject doesn't it. Those with fancy names and those without, they're all on the "Plumber sprung a leak" angle so to that end the goal was met, at least in some cicles. The wife tells me that The View picked up on it too, that's a surprise ...

All of this, from the same media that has had over two years to come up with answers on Obama, and you get nothing.
