That being said I have to say that I was less than impressed with the performance of Greg Hastings in the debate. He seemed unprepared for the questions and the ones that he was prepared for , the answers were more of a dodge than answer. The two things that jumped out at me most were first his response to the challenge of his stating that he was a "NATIVE" Sussex Countian. He read from Webster's Dictionary. And since he was born in Seaford he felt he was a "NATIVE" of Sussex. I guess if his mother was in Dover when she went into labor he would be a "NATIVE" Kent Countian. But what troubled me even more was his statement that in his close to two years as the Representative of the 41st District he had not taken the time to meet with anyone from NRG or the Indian River Power Plant . This being the largest employer in the district and one of the biggest issues in the state. He stated that he had met with environmentalist and DNREC both of which could be labled advisaries of the power industry. To meet with groups from only one side of the issue is either a case of having made up his mind or a case of incompetence. He stated that the problems at the IRPP had been ongoing for many years, true but as a new Representative he should have met directly with "ALL" parties involved. This sort of one sided view of the issue is exactly what has lead to the state having the blunder of wind power shoved down out throats. I believe that this points to a lack of focas on the jobs at hand , maybe because in Mr.Hastings own words , his plate is a little too full !
