Comments On Super Tuesday In Delaware

Wednesday, February 6th, 2008

Obama wins the First State.  Hillary only wins Sussex County.

McCain wins Delaware, and all three counties.

Nationally, Obama wins more states, Hillary more delegates.  This IS a race!

Big wins for McCain, but what a night for Huckabee, winning 5 states and staying in.  Romney wins 6, but a disappointing night.  He’s still in.

CLINTON: AR, AZ, CA, MA, NY, NJ, OK, TN
OBAMA: AK, AL, CT, CO, DE, GA, ID, IL, KS, MN, MO, ND, UT

HUCKABEE: AL, AR, GA, TN, WV
MCCAIN: AZ, CA, CT, DE, IL, MO, NJ, NY, OK
ROMNEY: CO, MA, MN, MT, ND, UT
PLEASE JOIN THE CONVERSATION, WE WOULD LOVE TO READ YOUR COMMENTS!

AIDs Delaware and the Delaware Liberty Fund

Friday, December 14th, 2007

Today, I post a “listener contribution”:

Dear Dan,

I am writing to make you aware of a situation involving a Political Action Committee or “PAC” named the Delaware Liberty Fund and a 501(c)3 not for profit organization named AIDs Delaware.  AIDs Delaware is a charitable organization that helps Delaware’s AIDs victims.  And the Delaware Liberty Fund is a PAC that supports the gay rights agenda.

According to public reports filed by the Delaware Liberty Fund, they received money from AIDs Delaware in 2004.  But I am 90% sure that 501(c)3s are not allowed to contribute to political activities.  They may be at risk of losing their tax exempt status.  Even if they do not lose their tax exempt status, I consider it somewhat scandalous that a tax exempt organization would take tax free money intended for AIDs victims, and give it to political campaigns.
What I consider to be doubly scandalous is the fact that the PAC gave money to political candidates who sit on the board of AIDs Delaware.  State Senators Henry and Cloutier both sit on the board of AIDs Delaware and both received money for their Senate Campaigns from the Delaware Liberty Fund.  Senator Henry received money in 2004, and Senator Cloutier received money in 2006.  To be fair, we must give them the benefit of the doubt.  They may not realize the connection.  But they will both know soon because I notified them by mail.  I sincerely hope that they will realize the ethical implications and return the money.

Lastly, it does not surprise me that these kinds of things are happening between the Delaware Liberty Fund and AIDs Delaware since at least two AIDs Delaware board members are on the Delaware Liberty Fund Steering Committee.  This lends credence to my theory that AIDs Delaware has an underlying agenda to promote the homosexual lifestyle.  I find it disappointing that a desire to help AIDs victims would be hijacked to advance a political agenda.  That just isn’t right.

Feel free to read my letter on the air.  But I would like to remain anonymous to protect myself from retaliation.  I don’t think my name is relevant since all of the above information is from public records.

Posting State of Delaware Employee Salaries Online

Monday, October 29th, 2007

Parents watching the budget problems at Cape Henlopen School District have been asking for the release of the administrator’s salaries and salary histories.  While not hiring an adequate number of fourth grade teachers, “how many administrators are making how much?” is an often asked question.  The board and the district have not responded so we have had to use FOIA to get the info.  Stand by.

This information should be easily accessible and readily available to all taxpayers, and State Senator George Bunting agrees big time!  George took my on air rant about Cape a step further, as you can see in the attached pdf of a letter he sent my way.

George Bunting calls on all State employee salaries to be posted on the internet.

Do you state employees agree with making salaries public on the internet?

Delaware Condom Nation

Wednesday, September 5th, 2007

A legal announcement in a local paper caught one of my listener’s eyes:

“Sealed proposals for Bid #7193 for Condoms will be received by the Procurement Branch, Delaware Health and Social Services”.  We sent for the complete specifications and the bid package and found some interesting facts about how your tax dollars will be spent of these condoms.

First, the condoms are said to be needed by “various state agencies” some of which we assume are local schools because part of the package includes instructions on how the winning bid can get paid when supplying local school districts.  The bid specifications for the condoms needed over the next year in Delaware are listed as follows:

10,000 small size regular sensitivity condoms.

136,000 regular fit multicolored condoms.

47,000 regular fit “multi-flavored” condoms.  (Yes, the government wants flavored condoms!)

106,000 regular fit studded or ribbed condoms.  (For “her” pleasure we presume?)

46,000 regular fit “sensitive/ultra-thin”.

11,000 large condoms, regular sensitivity (Note: 1,000 more large than small.  “It’s Good Being First” tm.)

16,000 Large “black or natural color” sensitive/ultra thin.  (large, black, sensitive?)

31,000 female condoms

24,000 male polyurethane condoms (For those with latex allergies I presume)

10,000 dental dams ( Insert your own joke here about what branch of state government might need these)

437,000 condoms paid for by you and handed out for free all over schools and state offices in the next year.  Don’t we go beyond so called “safe sex” when we are getting into “flavored” “ribbed” and “sensitive”?

If you were an inexperienced airline traveler, would you get on a plane if you new that at least 1 out of 10 flights crashed?  If you were an experienced air traveler would you fly today knowing that 1 in 100 flights today will crash?  These stats reflect the failure rate of condoms when used properly to prevent STD’s.  When used incorrectly we assume the planes crash more frequently.

Political Chairs

Saturday, August 25th, 2007

We have speculation, wishful thinking, and supposition in the air when talking about Sussex County politics.  Here I am conjuring up all the secret and not so secret information using my magic “old time” microphone.

danconjur

State Representative George Carey retires and Sussex County Councilman Lynn Rogers runs for his seat against the “heir to the throne” Dale Carey. Advantage: Rogers.

The seat vacated by Rogers makes Judson Bennett salivate for another shot at the County Council seat, but will he face a republican primary from Recorder of Deeds John Brady?  Maybe; it depends of what happens with Pete Schwartzkopf’s bid to be chosen by Jack Markell to run as Lieutenant Governor.  See, if Schwartzkopf runs for LG Brady will want the 14the district seat.  Advantage: Judson.  Disadvantage: Brady. Even: Pete Schwartzkopf.  (It looks like he’ll stay put as State Rep., the field is too thick for Lt. Gov)

Brady wants Insurance Commissioner when Matt Denn runs for Lieutenant Governor and Clerk of the Peace George Parrish runs for State Treasure when Markell jumps to Governor.

State Senator George Bunting will step down after a great career and State Representative Gerald Hocker will jump to take his seat.  A lot of “wanna-be’s” will want to be State Rep replacing Gerald.  The rumor list includes mortgage broker Walt Lydic, the queen of the inland bays Shirley Price, and even an ex radio host.  (All Democrats we presume)

Whew, so much more to tell, but I’m getting a headache.  More later…..

Is Sheriff Swanson Above the Law?

Wednesday, August 15th, 2007

There’s a cadre of evil operating in Sussex County… Cronyism… Good Ole Fellas… Liars, Hypocrites, Backstabbers…. People who are making, under the seams, life a very ugly thing in Sussex County. If you look deep enough below the surface, these people will present themselves…. They’re the ones that have little secret meetings, gossips, whiners…and are just generally unpleasant…. Could the current sheriff and his minions be amongst this select group? According to former sheriff deputy and candidate for State Representative, Kirk Pope, Yes.

The Neuberger Firm sent a letter out today claiming that Kirk Pope was fired from his post as sheriff for running for office against Pete Schwartzkopf, for being a republican, and for supporting former Sheriff Reed.

They claim Schwartzkopf blackballed and “put the word out” against Pope. They claim Sheriff Swanson belittled Pope’s military service and told him that there were going to be some changes because “I know you were loyal” to Sheriff Reed. They claim Sheriff Swanson told other Sheriff’s Office employees that they should vote “better,” meaning vote democrat.

Attorney Thomas Neuberger says that Swanson “believes he is above the law.” Attorney Stephan Neuberger calls Swanson a “renegade public official.”

So why does this apply, you thought Delaware was a hire-at-will state… Apparently, that doesn’t apply to elected officials… According to the Neuberger Firm:

Thirty-one years ago, the Supreme Court held that the First Amendment barred the newly elected Democratic Sheriff of Cook County, Illinois from firing his Deputy sheriff’s because of their political affiliations and activities.

Stephan Neuberger says that if it applied to Cook County, it applies to Sussex County.

I talked to Stephen Neuberger today to explain the details around this potential lawsuit… For everyone interested in the future of Sussex County, I urge you to listen to the below interview.

Our Next Governor

Wednesday, August 8th, 2007

Did you happen to hear Monday morning’s show? The first hour featured an interview with “Delaware’s Next Governor” Robert “Rob” Foraker – The Everyman Pizza Delivering Crime Fighting George Orwell Fantasy come-to-life to clean up the governor’s mansion.

How scary is this guy? He drives around up-state with a camera mounted on his dashboard videotaping “drug-dealers, hookers and johns.” He advocates a “Big Brother” atmosphere in the First State. His email address is even BigBrotherDelaware@gmail.com.

The biggest danger to a guy like this is, he appears innocuous. If you read the Gannett articles written about him on his hot Web site (http://www.robforaker.com/), he comes off even as someone to look up to; a modern day Batman looking for The Joker as he deals out drugs to our state’s children.

However, talking to the guy the truth comes out. He says things like; On prostitutes: A gal’s gotta make a living. On Drug Dealers: I don’t call the police.. I confront them myself and tell them to get off my street. On Delaware: “(my) vision for crime has some similarities to George Orwell’s vision.” He describes himself as liberal and loves the idea of social solutions instead of prison for criminals.Worst of all, the guy appears to be delusional. Some of us like the idea of an everyman in government… This is not your every man.

During The discussion of the story that broke today about the Millsboro police officer Davis losing it in the middle of the road and launching himself at a fellow officer, we asked the question: “What makes someone snap?” – This wannabe vigilante appears to be one-step away from snapping.

I urge you to listen to this segment from Monday’s show (courtesy of Audio-To-Go) – Here was Davis’ take from his e-mailing list: “I  have publically commented on  news reguarding our farmers across the state of Delaware. Our Lt. Governor Carney has left our government in a difficult situation due to ‘NO OPINION” how many categories of  this administrations failures does this statement refer too. I have made my feelings public on radio station   WDMG92.5 in Sussex County.” If I were you Robert, I wouldn’t be advertising your appearance. To quote a savvy listener: “This isn’t even funny anymore.”

Here’s some of Batman’s crime fighting videos… don’t see a lot of crime being fought though… http://uncutvideo.aol.com/videos/e801a456392678d7d918ffa7a7db1474

Maybe A Good Sign

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

For us, the reviled smokers, at least.  Yesterday afternoon I had a call from a group protesting the projected tax hike of 60 cents on a pack of cigarettes, $6 on a carton.  I was asked if I wanted to make my own protest known, to which I answered yes and I was patched to Rep. Schwartzkopf’s office.  His voice mail was full so I was then asked if I wanted to leave my message elsewhere…patched to a clerk’s phone but there was no answer.  Maybe it’s voice mail, too, was full.  So I guess I’ll express my protest here.

So far our habit isn’ as costly as it is in NJ or NY…or Canada or the UK.  In mentioning this increase to my sister she wasn’t overly sympathetic since they pay almost $10 for a pack of twenty cigarettes.  Yeah..but they have to import the tobacco…it’s not grown there like we have here.  The majority of the cost of cigarettes is taxation but why, in the name of all that’s holy can anyone justify slinging more taxes on the plant-based habit while encouraging the populace to verbally picket those who smoke, at every opportunity…using every effort and ploy they can to leper-ize them?  Anti-smokers justify their position, frequently, by complaining they don’t want to have to keep paying increased health care costs for such as we who enjoy this nefarious habit but, for some reason, don’t seem to mind slamming tax upon tax on us to help provide the amenities they, themselves, want or think they need.  You know, we always hear complaints about  government aid to the impoverished, those who won’t work…or can’t, public housing, illegal aliens because “this is OUR tax dollars at work”!  Well, there something a little strange about a reviled segment of the population being required to pay more taxes to provide for the State coffers while, along with that comes the ”privilege” of being abused.  An it IS abuse.  No…I do NOT want my representative to agree to this in any shape or form. Â
