Canopies Banned On Rehoboth Beaches

Shade seeking beach goers will have to find an alternative to using canopies this summer. That’s because Rehoboth Beach city council voted recently to ban the canopies from the beaches. The rule also will ban cooking devices and tents. You can still bring an umbrella, but it can’t be bigger than eight feet in diameter with a central pole no taller than seven and a half feet. The new ordinance will take effect Monday, May 15, and if you’re caught with one on the beach, you can face a civil offense fine of up to $25 for your first offense.
