The Department of Corrections says an inmate serving a life sentence for killing a Laurel farmer and his wife in 1961, has died.
75-year-old Kermit West of Laurel had been serving a life sentence for two counts of 1st degree murder at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in Smyrna; he died last Thursday at Christiana Hospital; his body has since been turned over to the ME, as is standard procedure.
Foul play is NOT suspected.
