Repairs are being made at Assateague, from hurricane damage there in late October.
Six weeks after Hurricane Sandy, repairs are continuing at Assateague. The pedestrian, bridge next to the Verrazzano Bridge, used for walking and biking, was badly damaged. Liz Davis, who handles public relations, said the debris has been removed. Preliminary work has started. That project is being done by the State Highway Administration.
The hurricane also washed away boardwalks throughout the park. They haven't been replaced yet, but Davis said they will.
Repairs to the nature trails will take much longer.
