The 2013 March Agricultural Survey results were released Thursday by the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service.
The survey collects data on farmers’ prospective plantings for the upcoming 2013 crop year.
Farmers in Maryland and Delaware intend to plant the same amount of soybeans in 2013 than they did in 2012. Corn acreage in Maryland is down 5 percent from 2012 while Delaware corn acreage is down 3 percent.
Wheat and barley acres in Maryland are up 20,000 and 5,000 acres respectively from 2012 while acreages are down 5,000 for both crops in Delaware.
