Philanthropic Arm of Monsanto Gives Bridgeville-area Farmer $5,000 to Donate to 2 Community Organizations

Mar 29, 2013 -- 9:46am

Two Bridgeville-area groups have received support from a local farmer and a farming community group.

America’s Farmers Grow Communities, the philanthropic arm of the Monsanto Company, is giving farmers in eligible counties a chance to win a $2,500 donation for a local nonprofit of their choice. That award can be doubled in counties that have been declared drought disaster areas by the USDA.

Since Sussex County has been declared a disaster area, Shannon Tatman was given the chance to donate to two organizations. She donated $2,500 each to the Woodbridge Soccer Association and the Bridgeville Mustangs 4-H Club.

The Soccer Association will use the money to pay for field maintenance and new equipment. America’s Farmers Grow Communities will donate $7,500 to Delaware.
