UPDATE: Delaware, Maryland Fall in Sweet 16

UPDATED 9 PM: The Maryland Lady Terrapins, the four seed in the Bridgeport Regional of the Women's Basketball Tournament, lost in convincing fashion to UConn in their regional semifinal, 76-50. Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis and Breanna Stewart each scored 17 points for the Huskies. Alyssa Thomas led the Terps with 13 points and nine rebounds. Kentucky and UConn will play Monday night for the right to move on to the Women's Final Four in New Orleans.

UPDATED 2:50 PM: The Delaware Lady Blue Hens' 27-game winning streak and their season have come to an end.

Delaware, the sixth seed in the Bridgeport (CT) Regional in the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament, lost to second-seeded Kentucky 69-62 at the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport. Jennifer O'Neill had 19 points, and A'dia Mathies had 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Wildcats. Senior Elena Delle Donne had 33 points and 9 rebounds to lead the Blue Hens in the final game of her career. She became the fifth-leading scorer in NCAA women's basketball history, finishing her career with 3,039 points.

ORIGINAL STORY

Two regional teams are in the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament, and they could end up meeting in the Elite 8.

The University of Delaware and the University of Maryland will both be playing in the semifinals in the Bridgeport Regional in Connecticut. Delaware, the sixth seed, will be playing second-seeded Kentucky at noon today. At 2, fourth-seeded Maryland will take on top-seeded Connecticut in front of a hostile partisan crowd.

If Delaware and Maryland can pull the upsets, they’ll face off in the regional final on Monday night for the right to move on to the Final Four in New Orleans.
