UPDATE: Suspicious Suitcase Found at School for Deaf in Newark Contained Clothing

UPDATED STORY:  Delaware State Police now say that a suspicious suitcase found this morning at a deaf school for children in Newark, turned out to contain clothing and some other personal items.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit responded to the Margaret Sterck School in Newark around 6 a.m. for the report of a suspicious suitcase; apparently an alert custodian became concerned after discovering the suspicious suitcase that had been left outside in the rear of the school, unattended.  

The school was evacuated while police investigated.

ORIGINAL STORY:  The Delaware State Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit responded to the Margaret Sterck School in Newark this morning for the report of a suspicious suitcase located outside of the school.

Officers were called to the school just after 6 a.m. after an alert custodian became concerned after discovering a suspicious suitcase that had been left outside in the rear of the school, unattended.  

The Delaware State Police EOD Unit is on-scene and is examining the suitcase and its contents. The school has been evacuated as a precaution and all students are safe.

The Sterck School is for deaf students ONLY!
