Governor Jack Markell’s weekly message is about the importance of preparing our students by supporting our educators. The Governor says that while teacher recruitment is important – retaining good teachers is even more important. Increasing the use of data on Delaware’s teacher preparation programs. Data is also being used by teachers to track student progress and determine where they need improvement. While visiting 2 Sussex County schools the Governor observed Professional Learning Communities – where teachers meet weekly to discuss student data and share instructional practices. He says the data – and the time given to interpreting it – are invaluable assets to their effective teaching and keeping Delaware students moving forward.
