On Wednesday, July 24, the attendees of Camp Colwell, the Delaware National Guard’s youth camp in Bethany Beach, will have a day full of fun and excitement.
The morning will be filled with team building as camper’s maneuver their way through the Rugged Outdoor Pursuit of Education (ROPES) confidence course. Later in the day, campers will put their driving skills to the test as they head to the go-kart track.
Camp Colwell has been in operation for 13 years. Initially, it was a military funded and run camp. Throughout its operation, it has evolved into a non-profit, privately funded, volunteer run event.
Members of the Guard can volunteer at Camp Colwell for a couple days or the entire week. This year’s camp has a handful of military members on staff, driving busses, serving chow and supervising campers.
