Lewes Man Pleads Guilty to Gun Charge

Jul 24, 2013 -- 5:25am

A Lewes man accused of taking a gun to a New York court date in February 2012 after being arrested at an Occupy Wall Street protest in October 2012, has pleaded guilty to 2nd degree attempted possession of a weapon.

The Manhatten District Attorney’s Office says Scott DeKuyper will now be sentenced on September 5; the charge carries a sentence of one year behind bars.

Police say DeKuyper was arrested on February 22, 2012 after he went through courthouse metal detectors with an unloaded .45 caliber handgun and a box of ammo in his backpack; he was at the Courthouse to answer charges stemming from an incident in October 2012 during which he’s accused of trying to yank a badge off the shirt of a NYPD officer during an Occupy Wall Street Times Square rally.
