We told you Tuesday that the Safe Haven Animal Sanctuary in Georgetown is set to close come August 30 due to dire financial straits. Well Tuesday night, the Shelter announced on its Facebook page that is NOT closing and is planning on keeping its Kent County dog control contract.
The no-kill shelters’ Director of Operations Cindy Woods says operating costs have been higher than anticipated; she says the 18,000-square-foot shelter can no longer afford food or medical care for the current 180 dogs and 100 cats housed at the facility.
Safe Haven is asking for food donations so employees can continue to feed the animals. If you’re interested in donating to Safe Haven you can call the shelter at 856.6460.
