The Center for the Inland Bays will be highlighting a project to rebuild wetlands in a bay tributary.
Scientists from the Center and DNREC have teamed up for a project to dredge sediment out of boating channels to rebuild the wetlands of Pepper Creek, a tributary of the Indian River Bay. The CIB says those marshes are being lost to sea level rise and sinking.
At 10 o’clock this morning the Center will be taking people out on a boat from the Vines Creek Marina out to Piney Point on Pepper Creek. Passengers will be able to view the work, go on board the dredge, and see where work will be done next spring. The organization says this will be a win-win for both boaters and the Inland Bays.
