Former University of Delaware women’s basketball standout Elena Delle Donne is solidifying her case to be named Rookie of the Year in the WNBA.
Delle Donne was named the league’s Rookie of the Month for this month, becoming only the second player in league history to win the award in each month of the season. In five games this month, Delle Donne led all rookies in scoring, at 17.2 points per game, and minutes, at 33.6 per game. Delle Donne was second among rookies with 5.8 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game. She was perfect from the free throw line in 26 attempts.
The Sky will take on the Indiana Fever in the best-of-3 first round of the WNBA Playoffs.
