Worcester County Tea Party Hosting Presentation on Common Core at Monthly Meeting

Sep 25, 2013 -- 9:58am

The Worcester County Tea Party will be hosting a presentation on Common Core at their monthly meeting Thursday night.

Jeff Scully and former teacher Brittany Hemsath from FreedomWorks, a Washington, D.C.-based conservative/libertarian nonprofit group, will be speaking to Tea Party members about what Common Core is, how it's being implemented in Maryland, and why it's so dangerous. Carol Frazier of the Worcester County Tea Party says Maryland legislators don't know anything about Common Core, and it was forced upon the state Department of Education as a condition for getting "Race to the Top" funding.

The doors at the Ocean Pines Community Center will open at 6:30 p.m., and the meeting will begin at 7.
