Maryland Senator Ben Cardin will get a tour of the damage from Superstorm Sandy in Crisfield.
Cardin will be in Crisfield tomorrow afternoon beginning at 2:15. He’ll be getting a tour of Crisfield by car with Mayor P.J. Purnell and Somerset County Commissioners. On December 15, President Obama reversed his Administration’s previous denial of individual assistance for Somerset County, and declared the county a Major Disaster Area. Nearly 600 homes and more than 50 businesses in Crisfield were damaged by the storm, which flooded the city with five feet of water.
According to the Maryland Department of Human Resources, around 1,400 households in Somerset County are eligible for D-SNAP, or the Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.
