Stimulus funding has gone away, and that means SNAP recipients in Delaware will see a reduction in their benefits, starting today.
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, or the stimulus package, increased spending for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program as unemployment rose and people started looking for help to make ends meet. The funding started in April 2009, and had a revised end date of Friday.
The average monthly benefit in Delaware up until now was $128 per person. For a household of four, there will be a $36 decrease in benefits. A household of eight will see a $65 decrease in benefits, and $8 for each additional person in a household.
