Milton Man Free on Bond After Chase in Lewes

Nov 12, 2013 -- 12:55pm

A Milton man is free on bond after leading Lewes Police on a high-speed chase.

Just after 7 o’clock Monday night, Lewes Police officers say they saw a black SUV driving west on Savannah Road without its headlights on. Police tried to stop the SUV, but the driver, 37-year-old Brendan Kelly, took off at a high rate of speed. Officers stopped the pursuit because Kelly’s driving was creating a threat to public safety. About a mile away, police found that Kelly had crashed his SUV after failing to negotiate a turn at the entrance of St. Jude’s Church on Route 1, and hit a concrete lane divider.

Kelly has been charged with DUI, driving with a suspended license, aggressive driving, failing to stop on a police officer’s signal, and 14 other traffic violations. He’s free on $3,109 bond.
