UPDATED: Crash Near Laurel Leaves Bicycle Rider Dead

UPDATED – 7/17 – Delaware State Police have released the name of the woman who died in the Saturday night crash near Laurel – she is 52 year old Mary Ann Wade of Laurel.


UPDATED – 7/16 7:50am – A crash between a motorcycle and bicycle Saturday night near Laurel has left one person dead.  Delaware State Police say a 52 year old Laurel woman was riding a bicycle and crossing Route 13 just north of Route 24 and rode into the path of a motorcycle operated by a 63 year old Bridgeville man.  The bicycle rider was thrown onto the roadway – the motorcycle also went down in the grass median.  The bicycle rider was in dark clothing and had no light on the bike.  She was pronounced dead at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital – the motorcycle rider was treated for non-life threatening injuries.  Police have determined that northbound traffic on Route 13 had the green light but the investigation is continuing.


One person was left with serious injuries after a crash just before 9:30 Saturday night near Laurel.  Delaware State Police say a motorcycle and a bicycle collided at Route 13 and Laurel Road.  DelDOT reopened the roadway around 12:30 this morning – the investigation is continuing.
