UPDATE: Man Critically Injured in Fall at Sussex Correctional Institution


UPDATE: A man incarcerated at the Sussex Correctional Institution (SCI) in Georgetown died Saturday, August 27. Lloyd Lidner, 54, (DOB 08/12/1962) was pronounced dead at Beebe Hospital at 6:47 p.m. Lidner was transported to the hospital after falling from a second floor railing.

Lidner, of Bridgeville, DE, arrived at SCI on August 27, 2016 on DUI charges.

The Delaware State Police are investigating the death as an apparent suicide. His body has been turned over to the State Division of Forensic Science, as is standard procedure.

No foul play is suspected.


State police and correctional officials are investigating after a man was critically injured Saturday night during a fall at the Sussex Correctional Institution (SCI) in Georgetown.

The patient, described as a man in his 50’s, reportedly fell or jumped from the second-floor tier just before 6:30 p.m.  He was found unresponsive with a serious head injury.  While EMS personnel were preparing to fly him to Christiana Hospital, he lapsed into cardiac arrest and was taken by ambulance to Beebe Hospital.

Officials are still investigating and have not released the man’s name or condition.
