DE, MD governors ask federal regulators to review Artificial Island project

Yesterday, the governors of Maryland and Delaware sent a joint letter to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission asking the group expedite the review of the Artificial Island transmission line project and consider a financing model that would not unfairly burden electric ratepayers on Delmarva Peninsula. They are urging FERC to consider alternative cost financing models during an upcoming meeting in June that could substantially reduce Delmarva ratepayers from funding the bulk of the $278 million project. Currently, Delmarva electrical customers will fun about 90% of the project, although alternative methods reduce that down to 7-10 %.
