DNREC will join New Jersey’s DEP to sink a legendary World War II era ship. The Zuni/Tamaroa had a famed history that spanned more than 50 years at sea. The ship ended up about 26 miles away from both Lewes and Cape May. Before it is sunk, the ship will be stripped of interior paneling and insulation, cleaned of all fuel and then reefed. Delaware will be funding about 75 percent of the reefing project, while New Jersey will take on about 25 percent.
