Delaware’s crew completes their last shift on Idaho’s Cougar Fire

Delaware’s second Wildfire crew will return to Delaware Thursday night. They have spent the past 2 weeks fighting wildfires in Idaho’s Panhandle National Forest region. After arriving in Montana at the beginning of the month, the crew was sent to the Copper Mountain Fire on the Canada/Idaho border where they endured primitive conditions – living in spike cams and eating MREs. This past week they were moved to the Cougar Fire east of Hope Idaho – a 5880-acre fire in rugged and steep terrain. That blaze was only 26% contained as of this morning according ot the Incident Management Situation Report.
