Delmar man convicted in the death of 18-day old baby

Sentencing is set for a man from Delmar, convicted of punching his 18 day old son, which led to the infant’s death. 31 year old Shane Faucette was convicted of first degree child abuse resulting in death will be sentenced in May for the killing of his infant, Luke Faucette last September. Prosecutors say Shane Faucette got upset when the baby wouldn’t stop crying and repeatedly punched him in the head—and then delayed seeking medical attention. An autopsy showed the child had skull fractures and blood on the brain.  The Worcester County D.A. says cases like this are among the most difficult to prosecute and that his staff did its best to make sure justice was served.
