The Delaware Department of Education panel charged with updating the state’s anti-discrimination policy meets this week to discuss a path forward after reviewing over 11,000 public comments. According to an analysis by WGMD, about 80% of public comments were against the changes to the regulation, which would allow for students to self-determine gender– in some cases without parental knowledge– and 20% were in favor. If any substantial changes are made, the proposed regulation will have to go through the public comment period again. The development team will meet between 6-8 PM on Wednesday evening at the Deltech-Dover campus.
