A bipartisan group introduced legislations to make Delaware’s criminal drug laws easier to apply. The law would address long standing problems of complexity in the state’s criminal drug laws, as well as make the laws more fair and increase penalties for people who repeatedly get convicted of dealing. The five weight classes would shrink to three and would eliminate aggravating factors. It will also get rid of disparities between those who live in the cities and those who are in the suburbs and rural areas. Right now, penalties are increased when drug crimes happen within 1000 feet of a park of church.
