BREAKING & UPDATED: Route 1 Crash Near Milford Leaves 1 Dead & 1 Injured

UPDATED – 5pm – One man is dead and another injured after a head-on crash on Route 1 near Argos Corner.  Delaware State Police say a Mercedes driven by a 53 year old Milford man was southbound in the northbound lane and collided with a Passat driven by a 28 year old Dover man just after 1am.  The Passat rolled onto its roof and came to a stop upside down in a wooded area.  The Dover man was properly restrained and was pronounced dead at the scene.   The Milford man was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  Witnesses told police that the Mercedes ran a stop sign at Johnson Road and Route 1 and went into a field where it began spinning and then ended up traveling south in the northbound lanes.  Police say alcohol may be a factor for the Milford man.  No charges have been filed.

UPDATED – 6am – Northbound lanes of Route 1 have reopened to traffic.
