UPDATED: Georgetown Man Faces Additional Charges of Rape

UPDATED – THURSDAY 3pm– An emergency bond hearing sets a new bail amount for 22-year-old Clay Conaway who was charged with Rape in the first degree and six counts of Rape in the second degree.

On Thursday, September 27, Clay Conaway had an emergency bond hearing where he was arraigned on the six additional counts of Rape in the Second Degree. Conaway received an additional $240,000.00 secured bond on top of the original $70,000.00 secured bond and was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution and ordered to have no contact with the victims or their families.

The Delaware State Police is asking for anyone who has information in reference to any additional criminal incidents involving this defendant to contact Troop 4, Major Crimes Unit, Detective D. A Georgetown man who was arrested in August for a sexual assault in June has been indicted on six additional counts of 2nd degree rape. Investigation into 22 Clay Conaway identified five additional victims who have been sexually assaulted by Conaway in incidents that occurred in 2013, 2017 and 2018. Delaware State Police ask anyone with information to contact Troop 4 or Crime Stoppers. Conaway is scheduled to appear in Sussex County Superior Court on October 1st.
