Governor Hogan Passes Sex Abuse Victims Protection Bill

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan signed 211 bills into law this past session, headlined by his proposed Protecting Victims of Sex Trafficking Act of 2017. This new law will make it easier to prosecute by further defining sexual abuse to include sex trafficking, regardless of whether the abuse was committed by a parent or guardian of a child. Hogan wanted to protect the most vulnerable Marylanders and bring criminals to justice with this law. The bill unanimously passed in the House and Senate.
