A Georgetown man was arrested this week after police found out he was impersonating a Division of Alcohol and Tobacco Enforcement Agent. 60-year-old Paul Lacurts was drinking at American Legion Post 19 on early February when he started to get rowdy. The bartender cut him off, but Lacurts claimed that he was a DATE agent and he couldn’t be refused service. The bartender tried to take a picture of him, but Lacurts tried to swipe the phone away. Lacurts was a police officer in Laurel for almost 25 years, but was never a DATE agent. He turned himself in earlier this week and was charged with criminal impersonation. He was released on $1,000 bond pending a future court date.
